A Power Factor Correction (PFC) System is designed to reduce the amount of current is drawn from the electricity network.

When operating correctly it brings many benefits to a plant. It reduces the maximum demand of an electrical system, in turn boosting voltage levels and narrowing the voltage bandwidth.

It creates spare capacity in transformers, Main Switchboards and Main Circuit Breakers to connect additional load without major upgrades.

A PFC System functions independently as a very reliable, static generator, when correctly designed.

If a PFC System is not maintained, capacitors fail asymmetrically and create problems such as current and voltage imbalance, produce high harmonics and neutral currents.
